Safety - front towing bracket/hoop

I see many pics of beautiful MINIs on here. Kudos for the care given. I am an Emergency Nurse and cannot help noticing the number of people who think it looks good to have this towing bracket attached all the time through the front bumper. I am not sure if this is even legal in USA. I just want to point out the damage having such a projection on the front of a car can do to someone struck by that vehicle. Bad enough being hit but that protrusion will make it much worse. Please consider placing it in the tool kit until you actually need to use it. Thanks.

Agreed-even on an aesthetic basis. If you take it to the track put it on, otherwise it could be a hazard, and look poser ricey (solely my opinion of course ) Like the old pedestrian slicers of yore...

Another in agreement, primarily on subjective "looks" of leaving an aftermarket tow hook in position. As to safety though, Cravenspeed's design with folding feature (after releasing custom bolt tension) would not seem to be the hazard the OP suggests. My objection is the limited practicality of using a machined aluminum "hook" (other than as described for on-track towing) since their disclaimer reads; "THIS TOW HOOK IS DESIGNED FOR LIGHT DUTY TOWING. DO NOT USE TO PULL VEHICLES ONTO FLATBED TRUCKS". Now really, how many of us track their MINIs? Not me...
