Removing Stripes, Adding Stripes

Hello fellow MINIacs.

Warmer weather is approaching and I want to start changing the external look of my MINI.

This is what he looks like right now Click to see!

So My plan is to black out ALL the chrome, and remove the bonnet stripes.

My original plan was to go stripe-less forever, blacking out the hood scoop.

Now I'm having a change of heart, I want to add viper red stripes on the bonnet, and to the boot.

This is the front I photoshopped Really fast bad photoshop to give you idea

This is where I have several questions.

If I were to add red stripes, should I leave the hood scoop the color of the car? Like this?

Should I put the stripes over the scoop? Like this

Or should I black out the hood scoop and have the stripes go under it? Like this?

Man, so many choices!!

I really think some nice matte red stripes would go nicely with the lightning blue body. Just trying to figure out what would look hood over scoop/under scoop/under black scoop. I'm kinda leaning towards red stripes, under a blacked out hood scoop.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!
Guillermo

First, remove your stripes and clean your paint to see if you have any ghosting. Machine polishing with a light polish will clean your clear coat, but will not fix any base coat fading. If you have fading, you might elect to go with the same stripes.

Dont use goof off or goo gone! Use the yellow bottle of Lighter fluid to remove any glue then clay bar your car before putting down stripes. They will lay much better

Kinda like under the scoop, but as you can see here there are many options to choose from! Please let us know if we can help, and post a photo of your final selection.

Easy

Had spent about 30 minutes Googling how to take off the stripes on my 2015 Mini Coopers bonnet. Was a little worried. But then I went out and looked at the car, cool in my garage from overnight parking, and I just peeled them off. No heat gun, no hair dryer, no heating the car up in the sun, nothing. The first peeled completely off in one piece, the second did require a second peel to finish it. I only wish putting the new ones on would go so easy.

If you're close to Winston Salem, come on over and I'll put them on for you
