Vin sticker door jam

When I registered my 2008 Clubman, it came from out of state and I was required to get a Vin inspection. The first DMV I went to wouldn't inspect it because it was missing the sticker on the drivers door jam. I had to trailer it to a major DMV to get it inspected. All done now, but is there a way to get a replacement sticker? Was there ever one there ?

Mine has one, only reason I can think it's missing is was in a wreck and repainted.

There is nothing in the Carfax-just a minor rear bumper touchup.

Many accidents don't make it into Carfax.

Yep, as another poster stated, the most likely culprit is an accident..

You can get it at a MINI dealership, they will need all your info and it will be special order. Make sure you get all the stickers , there is a tire pressure sticker and sometimes other ones dependent on the year. It might take a couple weeks to come in from germany.

This happens from a repaint in that area or a wreak and paint.

Thanks, there was a mention od a bunch of chips from the seatbelt. Maybe that was cause for a repaint. Anyway to apply for one online?
I don't have a dealer within 3 hrs drive.

This was years ago, but when my BMW E30 got smacked in the driver side b pillar. I had to take the car to the dealer and meet with a regional rep. They photograhed the cowl VIN and did a tracing and a few weeks later I had a new VIN sticker.

I highly doubt any dealer is going to sell you this sticker online.

It's probably possible if you provide proof of ownership, such as a copy of the registration. Just like buying a replacement key, which I have done from a remote dealer.

I doubt it. There’s nothing to stop someone with a wrecked MINI from slapping it on a non-wrecked one. A little creative welding and a dash swap and all fixed up chop shop style.

The regional rep wanted proof that my E30 was still in one piece and needed the VIN decal.

I just ordered some for a BMW, one from body shop, and one from the BMW dealer through the body shop. There are several companies who reprint VIN labels online, but I don't know what info/documents you have to provide when ordering. I went through a body shop because they do it a lot and already have their vendors.

What is very surprising is the genuine BMW replacement looks nothing like the original, where the generic looks almost identical in print and layout, but is just missing the BMW roundel. The genuine still has the "embossed" safety/anti-tamper pattern in the material, and the generic is smooth vinyl. BMW must want to make it very obvious the VIN label has been replaced, or the layout has changed and it matches current BMW label.

I'll try to post pics in a few days.

They will need all your info, might take a couple week coming out of germany and MTO, at least mine did. We don't carry them as its a theft issue part.

Did your factory replacement look like the original? The replacement I got from BMW looks completely different. I can't imagine it would be different just because it's BMW vs MINI.

It was not exact , I know that, its looks like a blending of the newest Vin design with the older design, I also got the general TPMS sticker below it and the tire pressure sticker below the Vin one ( it Vin specific also and states wheels and tire recommendations ), has the Vin on the side.

General Tire pressure label 71246763822
