Obdii
Obdii
Since I have recently acquired a 2012 Mini Convertible, and do a bit of my own maintenance, I want to get an OBDII to check codes, and clear malfunction codes. My local shop has two, one of which will not work on my car.
Is there a special model/version/type that is required for the R57 cars? I see several on Amazon priced from $18.00 to $48.00.

Most of us use the Torque App for Andriod. Just about any BT OBD2 reader off ebay will work. Torque App = $5, OBD2 reader = $20. Very easy to use, however if you need to read BMW/Mini specific codes, you need to spend a whole more. Lots of threads here on this, try a search..

I went with the ScanGauge2 and Craven mount. I didn't want to have to always mount and unmount my phone. Besides It color matches very well, and I like the 4 gauge readings it it displays. (the 4 I picked, it will display a lot of other ones. I chose water temp, boost, voltage and intake air temp. Oil pressure and temp are not available before 2011.)
I have my GPS/backup camera mounted with a Craven mount to the right of my tach. Need to either replace the stupid little convertible top "Openometer"(who came up with that thing in the first place??), or maybe mount an 'Instrument bar' that runs from the speedo across the top or the passenger dash to house all the gauges that the "instrumenophiles" like to monitor??
