Probably a stupid question

Has anyone ever used vinyl electrical tape on their car's painted surface, and if yes will it cause any damages?

The black one?
No, no damages!
It is ideal for lines in my plastidip jobs (better than the paper tape)

Go for it!

No. I'm thinking of doing a couple of stripes using Scotch Professional Grade Orange Electrical Tape.

Sorry, I have no experience with the orange one.
I would test the adhesion quality for that tape before using it in a hidden painted area (on the car).

I have used Scotch Super 33 black electrical tape to black out the exterior beltline trim with great success. Cohesion is good, any residual adhesive can be easily removed and the price is right.

Alabama chrome (duct tape) is always in fashion. Go to an auto supply and buy a professional product.

Thanks for all your suggestions. The Scotch Tape I would like to use is their number 35. I'm going to apply it to an inconspicuous spot and see what the results are, and then post the rersults.
