My hood latch is broken. I've tried pulling on the cable and it's just loose. Now my car won't start and my brake is locked up. Just makes an electrical kind of sound and everything turns on but the engine. Anyone have any advice before I have to get it towed to the mechanic? If I can get the hood open at least that would be a huge help!

 

No chance its the battery ? Heard of the strangest things happening when the battery starts to go.

 

That's what I'm leaning towards but I have to figure out how to get the hood open to test it.

 

It's probably a bad latch inside the car. The end of the cable snaps out of the pull handle. If you look around the back side of the release handle you should be able to find the handle. You can pull it with some pliers or something to get the hood open. Then get a new release handle. Pretty sure they're less than $20 and not hard to replace.

 

Hood latch here, most of the time its a rusty inside cable, near the front hood latch and then when you pull the cable on the inside pops out of place. Try to pop it back into place or pull with a pair of pliers on the inside cable.
