Nose down-hill clattering like a Train
Nose down-hill clattering like a Train
2009 MCS, 109k, bone stock.
So I parked the car facing down my fairly steep driveway one evening. Upon starting the next afternoon the car sounded like it was OUT of oil. I turned around in the driveway and checked the oil and it was a tad low so i added some, maybe a half quart or so.
The clattering went away. Drove down the road, all was normal.
Same thing happened yesterday afternoon, but the oil was not low. I let it idle for a minute or so and the noise quieted. Drove down the road and it went away completely.
Thoughts?

I do not know how well the oil chamber is in a mini, but knowing some from drag racing the force of the launch throws the oil to the back of the oil pan. They specifically design the pans to withstand the force so it does not blow up the pistons. Basically, yes this sounds normal. The nose is from the oil being more towards the front.
A guy goes to a doctor and says when lift my arm above my head it herts the doctor replies don't lift your arm above your head.
Moral don't park your car nose down on a steep incline because you'll stave the oil pump.
