Chrono pack issue or cooling problem?
Chrono pack issue or cooling problem?
Hi guys,
I own an '05 Mini R50 with a chrono pack and I would like to get some feedback from owners with similar set-up on the following issue: is your dashboard coolant temp gauge staying stable at 90 dgr C no matter what is the traffic regime?
Or does it reads actual temp values and varies accordingly?
I've attached some pics taken during different traffic conditions in which you can see the temp gauge indicating either 90C or about 100C.
I have to add that 3 days ago I changed the following (all OEM parts): t-stat & housing; radiator fan assembly (as 1st speed was broken), coolant. The work was performed at a BMW - Mini service shop.
Please help me with some feedback.
Thx!

Does your coolant temp gauge varies?
Because mine does vary depending on the traffic.
It either stays at about 90C or it raises above 90C (as you can see in the 3rd picture).
Is the chrono pack showing an accurate reading (as opposed to the non-chrono models) or is something fishy around?

Hi folks,
I've attached a new picture which shows readings well above 90C.
The reading is higher than in my previous posts because I travelled with the cabin heater off. The traffic conditions were similar.
Any thoughts on that?
