New car exhaust

Hi folks,
I've got a new R60. Had it for 3 weeks. We decided to wash the car and I noticed a fair amount of soot on the chrome exhaust extensions. I've never had chrome extensions before so don't know if this is common or if I'm burning oil.
I checked the oil and it's not dark and it's still full.
We bought it new with 150 test drive miles on it so don't know if it got abused during that time frame or not or if the soot is typical.
Any thoughts?

black soot is gas, mine did that for first 500-1K miles, now just a bit on the bottom after break in

Both of mine do this. One is well past break in with 30k, the other is just over 3k. It's annoying, but cleans up real easy with a quick spray and wipe with WD40.

Very normal.

My MCS doesn't use oil between 7500 mile changes, yet keeps pretty sooty exhaust tips.

Averages 35-36 mpg mostly highway.

it is the unleaded fuel, every vehicle i have had since 1976 has had black sooty exhaust ... my motorcycles included

if i put leaded av-gas in my motorcycles (no cats on them), the exhaust turns light tan as in the olds days, it is lead oxide, take out the lead, then back to black
