Hi everyone! My name's Robby and I live here in Ohio, US. I am HIGHLY considering joining the family with my first mini purchase. My 1999 Jeep Cherokee finally gave out after 180k...too many problems and fed up with it.

I am considering purchasing a 2003 Mini 6 Speed. My concerns is that it now has 119k miles on it. After looking through the forums I have noticed many individuals who praise these cars for high mileage with the proper husbandry. I am wondering if anyone can give me pointers/ things to look for when I go test drive this baby on Wednesday??? I apologize for not digging deeper but this is a last-minute find.

Hi Robby. You came to the right place for all things MINI. Take a read through the first gen buyer's guide, which you can find here.

You might consider taking the car to a local MINI dealer or experienced independent mechanic for a PPI (pre-purchase inspection). It's $150'ish but IMO money well spent to know what you're in for as far as near future maintenance & repairs.
