Wow. That's weird. It's a huge difference in feel and handling.

The day I bought the car, I didn't even get 50 feet before I pulled off the run flat rims and tires and bought a set of rims and studded winter tires. For the summer, I plan to run DOT competition tires. All seasons are tires for those who do not push their car. I get one season out of my drive tires on just about every car I own.

I went 90 days, or the length of time it took me to feel comfortable in the fact that I have indeed (mostly) learned to drive a 6-speed... then I went straight to Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3's as my reward...

Bought my 2012 Countryman a year ago with 13.5K miles on it. Not sure whether the tires were new or not (can't remember). I have the Continental RFTs on it. I'm now at 39K with no issues. Ride is not terrible. I will be putting on 19" wheels in a few weeks, and I'm going with General G-MAX AS-03 Tires (non RF). I've heard good things about them, and the price is definitely right. I'll get a compact spare to keep in the boot from either ECS Tuning or Detroit Tuned.

With my first Clubman, I knew on the way home from picking it up at the dealer that the runflats would have to go. I think that set had maybe 300 miles on it when they came off. When I bought the new Clubman, the dealer swapped its runflats onto the old one, which I was trading in.

Funny thing is that I've driven several BMWs that had runflats, and their ride didn't seem to be affected as much as the MINIs - I suppose because they're heavier.

That's true. For sure. But my new tires feel great.

When I bought my 2009 MCS on March 7, it had new Hankook run flats on it. They were replaced March 13th. So I waited six days and maybe 150 miles or so. Too long.

Had dealer remove them for me and install Michelin Pilot Sports A/S non run flats (this was in 2009) before I took delivery. No regrets whatsoever. Sold run flats for $100 a piece in 2009. .

I switched to regular tires when my car flunked its state inspection! Made a big difference in the feel. I was nowhere near 10,000 miles at the time.
