Center dash lights are flashing?
Hello all,
I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S. I have the navigation option. After the car has warmed up, the lights above the navigation unit all flicker. Sometimes they will stop flickering and go out--but flicker when my turn signals are on. Even when the key is pulled out of the ignition, they stay on and flicker. What could this be?
Thanks

Taking a stab but there could be a wire that is pinched causing a ground to light them up. I seem to recall having a BMW years back that had lighted mirrors in the visors that would act oddly whenever the mirror was opened and the visor was shifted around. It turned out to be a wire that was pinched when the visor was noun ted during assembly. While I doubt that there are wires, per se, in the dash, there could be a printed circuit board that is faulty and grounding from time to time. Try pulling that module and see what you can find.
How old is your battery? Are the terminals and post very clean. Mini's are finicky with their electricity. I agree too that it could be a bad solder on a circuit board or some crud in a connector grounding the circuits for those lights.
I would check the battery first, things go haywire when the voltage is low, then check the alternator.

Dash light flicker
Um....this thread was from 2014. However....once your car gets to be around 10 years old, it is likely your alternator is getting to end of life. Mine went last week. Was driving on my way to work, then the battery light went on and I noticed my wipers going really slow. Then a few miles later, the ABS and traction control lights came on. The a few miles later, the dash lights were flickering. I was totally running on the battery. Then shortly afterwards, I lost power steering. I managed to get off the highway and to a friend's place who lived nearby and parked it there. The car had to be towed and I got a new alternator.
The whole car runs like new now.

Hi All..
Shirley here from South Africa....My mini cooper just started doing the same, all the dashboards are flikering uncontrollable even if the key is out of the ignition....
My battery is dead( not even a year old)and got another replacement( old one) untill mine is charged and tested, but it does the exact same thing.
Is is a computer and wiring isue or the alternator?
