That one upgrade

That one upgrade that seemed to just completely change your Mini. You know the one, it just suddenly became YOUR Mini.

It drove better, or it just looked the part, what was it? What was this end-all be-all of upgrades?

Someone should yell at me if there is already a thread like this.

The Integral Audio Soundstage- That took it from an economy car sound system, to a luxury car soundsystem. Amazing difference.

fJCW exhaust for me. Every time I start the car, it just puts a huge smile on my face when I hear that growl! It's especially great in covered garages where the sound reverberates too

I would say the "Mod" that made my car mine would be the painted roof. Nothing fancy. Went from a white roof to Black. But I also did the black line headlight and taillight rings, mirror caps, and the grille surround. And with the mild window tint job it really made it MY car.

The NM-Eng. exhaust made it sound great and added to the personalization.

Definitely my alta clone air intake. The supercharger sound never gets old for me.

If I go by this I would say my rims. I rarely see gold/bronze rims where I live and it really stands out.

However if I go by this I would say a tuner. Battle Tuning, AccessPort, doesn't matter, they all make such a big difference in the car. I'm dying right now on a stock map waiting for my Battle Tunes...

Custom leather steering wheel cover:

Ties the pepper white exterior to the English Oak and brown interior. Every time I drive I feel luxurious leather under my fingers, and the slightly larger diameter makes for a nice grip.

My AEM intake, which makes the hood scoop
, is a close second. But really, it's the steering wheel that has made Emma my car.

For sound, that! Me too (sans resonator too)

For car feel, the TSW X-Brace. Now I three wheel it up my driveway

I like hearing these, really get a better idea of worthwhile upgrades.

If anyone was wondering, it was and always will be, replacing the transmission for me. That is the most work I've ever done on a car and am so proud nothing exploded after putting it back together.

I'd care to know this too. I promise not to get the same one so yours will still be unique bragling

I'm happy with mine the way it came out of the box. The few subtle things I've done are stubby antenna, arm rest and tint. I'm pleased with it just the way it is.

Sorry for the delay in replying! It's from Redline Goods. They do amazing work. They are a family business and their production facility is a small room in Poland. It's a fascinating (to me) example of how the Internet can enable global trade even for very small businesses, allowing great quality work to win business.

It does mean shipping can take a bit longer. But it's well worth it.

They currently are doing a valentine's day offer of an extra 15% off: use code VALENTINES2014.

Next time I have a little play money I would like to order a matching shift boot

Upgrade

For me it was adding the Mini Fini hitch so I could either have a bike rack or Super Bumper on the back when nothing else is there. I know it sounds odd but coming from driving very large trucks I fear getting rear ended in the Mini.

I have been enjoying the Blackvue Dash Cams. One in front and one in the rear recording when driving. I got some cool pictures in the last snow storm of people sliding all over the road. I really like when I start the car hearing all the voices. The Dash Cam speaks as it starts up, then the hidden Radar Detector (Passport 8500CI) speaks also as it starts up. Then I know I am ready to roll.

For the N18's, to me, the best mod ever is the 'Juice Box' by BMS Motorsports. 20hp & 30tq
for $300. Transforms the MCS into JCW type power.

My integral audio system, Akrapovic turbo back exhaust. GP2 belly pan, side underpanels and rear diffuser, NM springs and 22 mm RSB. It's hard to pick just one, I think all of them make my car what it is.

Yep...in the universe of MINI enthusiasts, I think you'll find a predominance of claims that upgrading the RSB is the mod that can make the single largest improvement in the motoring experience.

Interesting that so many folks list their steering wheel upgrade as "the one." Probably because it's a continuous, engaging experience as the primary user interface to the car.

And speaking of feeling sexy under the fingers...
