Car camping with a MINI
I enjoy camping in a tent and plan to do a lot of camping this summer with some long road trips. I'm single so it would be just me in the car.
I'm looking to purchase a new-to-me MINI and have been looking at Clubmans for the extra room. But I took a look at a MINI hardtop and with seats down it has more room than I expected.
My trips will be multi-week and I tend not to travel that light.
Any MINI car campers out there? Is the MINI hardtop big enough? Do you need a bigger MINI?

My camping days are pretty much over but when I think back to what I hauled around when my wife and I were serious campers I'm confident that my Hardtop has more than enough room to carry anything we would have used. Besides that, the MINI is a nice car to drive on long trips. Have yourself a good time.
I've done it in a first gen base cooper - loved it!
With the back seats down, there's a lot of room for storage. My wife and I have been able to fit an unbelievable amount of luggage back there.

I went on a 3 day camping trip with my girlfriend in the convertible. Everyone was shocked to see how much gear I pulled out of the car. Even with the car loaded up I was able to put the top up and down. You should be fine with a hardtop but I think you might be happier with the clubman.

Last summer I did a LOT of car camping with the Clubman. packing for two, there was still a lot of room left, but if I had to guess, a hardtop would be stuffed to the gills on a multiweek camping trip, even if its only you and you pack heavy. The hartop might be more fun to drive, but car camping in the clubman is where its at!
Took a 3 week route 66 trip a few years ago. Used KOA mostly. We had a 3 man tent, 2 sleeping bags and a very full 05 S. WE actually over packed originally and sent some stuff home. You will be fine. We bought a large laundry basket a thrift store, which held the tent and air mattress, and pump.
We did use Kozy Kabins as much as possible. Winds in Tucumcari N.M. made it impossible to pitch a tent.

I have tent-camped three times at the Dragon out of my 2004 MCS. Yes, I had enough space but would have preferred a Clubman.
