There is a student here on campus with a plastidipped Audi SUV -- all gunmetal matte gray. Didn't know what it was before but with this thread, my mind has opened to all new possibilities for my Cricket. I could clear coat the wheels & they wouldn't pick up dirt? Is that do-able?

You can clear coat them, but it is not good for the plastidip,
It will eventually dry and peel off...
You can use a plastidip-glossifier instead

you dont use a clear coat for plasti-dip. its not paint, its rubber-dipess.

Just went through a car wash! My plasti dip held up quite nicely. Just got to figure out how to spray it without getting the texture in it.

Picked up some white PD this evening. Planning to spray all my plastic lower trim, the intake vents below the windscreen, and likely the thin trim around the roof baseline. Should compliment the all Space Blue nicely.

Looking forward to seeing this since I haven't seen many pics of the white PD. I'm considering doing my A-panels in it (but who am I kidding, I can't even keep a blue car clean.... ).

Are you replacing them or just using dip on them? It would have been easier to tape them in place and just wash the overspray off.

First trim pieces are done. I think it's pretty slick. Did the gas door too.

Im just dipping them. It only took about 25-30 minutes to remove evrything but the emblems and door handles. The car is really dirty and I didnt want to use tape on it

That's understandable. I think I might leave my belt line in chrome and just finish off with the emblems and the handles.

Decided to do two stripes. I think they turned out alright. Rims next? If only I had a garage!

Yeah I figured I replace trim on these cars all the time so its easy for me also I can get a little better coverage. Only things I wont remove are the emblems and the door handles. Leaving the belt line chrome and the rest dipped might look pretty good, it seems like it may make a nice contrast since it goes around the car.
Speaking of door handles, since they are a high traffic area of contact , how does the plasti dip hold up to being touched all the time?

We masked off each area and had to spray them individually. If I have to make suggestions if you want to do an entire car like this....Don't! It's a huge pain in the ***, it came out pretty good and looks cool but this took us about 2 weeks of constantly working after work and whatnot. I would suggest using vinyl, I think it would be roughly the same about of money and whatnot but glad you like it! PM me if you have more specific questions because I don't check this much.

Alright fellas I need some advice before I start this project. I have a Laser Blue R56 with a white roof and mirrors and black pins. The vinyls look terrible and need removed or dipped over, im leaning more toward dipping directly over them to keep the factory look. However im doing the hl and bl trim as well as the grill mirror caps and roof. Im not aure wether to go with matte black...or anthricite gray... or even another color to go with the laser blue. Maybe mix the black and anthricite? Should I do the pins black or the gray as well? Any ideas would be great!
