Hi - I had a problem with my Mini tonight. I took her out to the store - about 2 miles out, and on the way home, the EML light came on, then the car lost power and I coasted for about 200 yards. Then she died. At that time, wouldn't start. I walked home and got my husband, and when we got back to the car, she started up and we drove home. We know nothing about Mini's - this is our first one and we looked on this site and found a thread that related a similar problem, having to do with a bad crank sensor.

The car is a 2006 Automatic S model with 107,000 mi on it. We are having hard shift issues out of 3rd into 4th, very intermittent (not so much for me but with my husband). We took it to Portland and had it fully serviced by a Mini specialist shop- with the oil and transmission fluid changed. The shop felt that the transmission was fine, and other than a little oil drip, but not enough to worry about, that the car was in good operating order. This was in June. We bought the car in April.

Prior to tonight - there were no symptoms, no difficulty starting and she was running strong. We replaced the battery a few months ago.

I am hoping for some advice - including suggestions for service in the Seattle/Tacoma area, or even Portland - as well as any ideas of what might be wrong. Thanks

 

Sorry for your troubles. Do you have a CEL on? If yes can you get the code read at Autozone or Advance Auto? Then maybe we can help.

 

Thanks but I can't get to a shop - we are going to tow her into the dealership. Bummed.
