EML Question

Hi-We're new to Mini - Tonight the EML light came on - lost power, coasted, then died. Later, we were able to start and drive home. We read it is a bad crank sensor - Any opinions on this? As well any service advice in the Seattle/Tacoma area? (or even Portland). Thanks
