AM radio static while using powerfold mirrors
AM radio static while using powerfold mirrors
Anyone ever experience this? I just noticed it today while i was parking my car. I was getting ready to shut off the car while i was folding the mirrors and i noticed i would get static on the AM radio. It's not bad enough were it blocks the radio signal, but it's enough to notice. This will happen on varying degree on all my AM presets, so it's not just the station.
I do have an Alta "stubby" antenna, but i don't know if that would have anything to do with it.
I'm not looking for a fix. Just wondering if this happens to anyone else or if anyone cares to test to see if they have the same issue.

Yea, I got a little static, it's AM... Its always got static. The mirrors run for 5 seconds. NBD.
Put the stock antenna back on, the base coil in that unit is designed for AM.
My car has this "feature" too! I don't use any antenna at all. The other thing I noticed is that if I'm on an HD station, it reverts to regular AM during fold in. I only tested 1 HD station, because that is all I can pull. It may also be that I tested in my garage and the signals are weakened. I totally lose Sirius when parked in the garage.
Nah..
It's more like a wind-up 45 RPM under dash record player.
( they really sold these.. )

I don't understand you...and I'm dizzy!!! NAW...I know about CO. I didn't even have my key in during my test.
the reason why I say to do this is that in a garage, the signal is likely attentunated (weakened) by the walls (made much weaker..as if it is MUCH further away)...that is why AM dies in a tunnel, and FM is normally OK if it is local. A weak AM station will result in you picking up interference from many things you might not normally hear....like electrical noise, or even crackles and pops from lightning in the distance....and the static you hear when an motor runs is...you guessed it....just light lightning when you look at it from a RF perspective!!
Sorry, are you just sitting in traffic listening to AM while using the fold function over and over?

I just happened to notice this right after i parked my car and was getting ready to walk into my office. I fold my mirrors up because people in my office can be parking challenged
AM is not THAT important to me and i i prefer form over function; I'll keep my stubby antenna.the reason why I say to do this is that in a garage, the signal is likely attentunated (weakened) by the walls (made much weaker..as if it is MUCH further away)...that is why AM dies in a tunnel, and FM is normally OK if it is local.
