Faint cricket noise when accelerating

I just recently bought my MCCS 13' it only has 5300 miles on it ( bought it with 4600). I am starting to hear a very faint cricket noise coming from the engine, or at least I think, hopefully it's not the wheels... I am wondering if there is something wrong or just a normal sound that I just picked up on.

Any help would be great, thanks!

Sounds like light pinging/preignition/knocking to me. Since your car appears to be stock it could be caused my low octane gas and/or hot weather. You may also want to see if it's time to remove the carbon deposits that seem to build up on direct injection motors.

I really hope with 5300 miles carbon build up would not be an issue.

Should've bought a JCW, you'd get the sound of a thousand Locusts when accelerating.

I was hoping you were going to say manual. I experience the same thing in stop and go traffic with the AC on and when I was messing around with the clutch cylinder. I noticed so air bubbles in the pump and tried to pump it a few times to get rid of them and heard a cricket sounding noise.

I hope it is not something with the transmission. I just hit a large dip in the road and it jolted the a good amount and thats when I noticed it. I could be crazy for noticing such a faint sound, but if it is a problem I would rather tackle it now before it becomes a larger one.

Take it into the local Dealership. Its under warranty - just have them take a look at it. won't hurt and you'll have the issue documented. Otherwise how are you liking your MINI?
