I actually like it, especially the halo rings around the headlights. I do want to see it in person, though. It's interesting that the windscreen is laid back more now, as opposed to being upright, a la R53 and R56. I love the color of the one in the picture, though. And yes, the front end, particularly the overhang, is designed to meet Euro pedestrian collision requirements.

These are certainly natural opinions. I remember when the C6 Corvette came out and, GASP, there were no flip-up headlights-a staple on the cars since 1965. I hated everything about it when I saw the first pictures...
Now, I still hate the look of the C6 8 years later...but there is less that I hate now that I have seen them around for awhile

It looks like a Chinese ripoff of the R56.
The front is just terrible. I like the profile from the front wheel back. The rear is pretty decent and I'm sure I'll learn to love it.
I don't like how they lost the complexity in the taillights tho. The taillights in the R56N are pretty to look at, clear lens, different colors, textures, shapes inside. The taillights in the F56 are just a block of red... I don't get it.
I really like the new spoiler design and the space between the beltline and the roof seems a little shorter, I like it.
It better come with a damn good engine if I'm supposed to be one of their future customers.
Also on another positive note, all of our cars just gained a little in resale value hahaha.
EDIT:
I think it might look a little better in a different color. The black and red ones look good but the front is still covered... maybe that's why haha.

Yeah the Lifan 320 looks like less of a ripoff of the R56 now than the F56 IMO.
I'd still prefer the F56 over the 320 but I have my R56 so I won't have to make that decision.
I'm just glad the new M4 is going to look amazing so now my real decision of staying in a MINI or moving on will be easier.

Its interesting to see your constant, demeaning comments of the new F56 Mini. It seems pretty clear to me that you probably fall outside of BMW's perception of the the current Mini buyer's demographic. Oh well.
My guess is that BMW may have a better plan on insuring Mini's longterm success than you. Just an observation.

Agree with the observations that the rear tail lights are too large. Also think it's lame that they run into the hatch area now instead of being fully surrounded by the quarter panel.
The lower front grille should have just been left off... Think if they'd done that and smoothed that area out some it would be a big improvement. As it stands it looks funny from the front since it's narrower than the upper grille and from the side it accentuates and draws attention to the larger overhang.
"Halo" style headlights are a fad that ended years ago. Don't really like them on anything. Maybe there'll be some replacements available on eBay that don't have the stupid things so people can get some decent looking non-halo headlights... Wouldn't that be ironic?
Spoiler looks overdone and ricey.
And I still think (thought from the earlier camo spy shots as well) that the passenger "bubble" looks disproportionately small compared to the lower half of the car. It's like the unholy offspring of an R56 hardtop and a coupe... And I hate the coupes.
But on the plus side, when I get ready to buy another MINI it doesn't look like I'll have any trouble sticking to my plan to buy an R53 or R56... Between the horrible interior and the ugly outside, I don't see myself being tempted at all by the F56.

Oh my, where to start. I am reserving judgement on the exterior and the use of 3-cylinder engines, but, assuming that is the 2014 interior, i have definite opinions. That dash could have come out of a Buick, Civic, or Corolla. There is absolutely nothing unique about it that says "Mini Cooper" to me.
The "true" 3-spoke steering wheel is gone. The conical a/c vents were scrubbed in favor of any-car units. Obviously, the speedo has been moved, and i assume is the primary dial in front of the driver with the tach in a half moon gauge off to the left. Everyone knows that for any serious driver's car the most important gauge to the driver is the tach, and it belongs in a prominant and front center location.
I have no doubt this is BMW increasing their use of common components across multiple car lines, and perhaps that is necessary to keep the Mini brand alive in an ever increasing competitive and crowded space of this segment of the market. Maintaining brand-specific components must be expensive, but it's just sad.
The 2014 CM JCW may be a screamer of a car, espeically if they get the rumored 2.0L engines, but for the interior alone, I'm glad we ordered a 2013..
did I go over the cliff on this unnecessarily? what do others think?
