DDM cold air intake system

Hi guys

I want to buy a cold air intake system for my R56 cooper s. I had a look at the DDM cold air intake system that makes the hood scoop functional but I am scared if I install this what if water gets into the filter via the hood scoop because there is nothing preventing that, the scoop is open for anything. Can you please advise me?

Regards

I've got the AEM system that is functionally the same as the DDM. I've never had a problem with the rain. Been running it over a year now. Not trying to steer you away from the DDM, I've seen them in person and they are a well made unit.

Hi Reebus

Thanx for the reply... I am looking at both the DDM and AEM. How is your performance after you installed it?

There are all sort of discussions here about the effectiveness of modifying the stock intake. Lots of folks don't believe that there are any performance gains to be achieved by going to a "cold air" intake. In fact there was some discussion that the wrong set up (open filter in engine compartment) will have an adverse effect. Others swear that their "butt-dyno" tells them somethig different. I'm not even going to go there.

If there is a performane difference, I can't really feel it. The one thing that changed that I do like are the sounds from the engine compartment. I can really hear the turbo now and I love the intake noises.

Was just wondering, does anyone have a video or instructions WITH pictures on how to install this thing? I bought a cold air intake and the morons didn't include any instructions so I'm not sure where some of the parts go.
