Nope. Those are some major changes, IMO. The average person can't tell the difference between an R53 and an R56, but even they will be able to see the difference between the R and the F...

By the way - If you look closely at the bottom picture, it looks like there is a central speedo with the nav or MINI Connected screen in the middle, like on the current cars. Maybe there's still hope for a central speedo.
These are just concept drawings, not anything close to the real thing.
One can only hope. I don't like the Paceman's rear tails, so the ones for this F56 don't appeal to me. I dislike ANY car that places brake or reverse lights in a position that is on the bumper (IMO it's too low for most to see or pay attention to at quick glance. Example is the Infiniti EX). The front, as mentioned already, reminds me of a Hyundai. And finally, the hood scoop seems so small that there would be little-to-no functional use for it.
Unfortunately, many concept drawings tend to over-glorify certain aspects of the cars that we see in production. They tend to look better as concepts. I hope MINI does not use this as their final template for the F56.
I find it weird that even if MINI is doing well in sales with the current generation, why would they be in such a hurry for a change? Something doesn't make sense to me...

BMW does a new product cycle every 6 years. Within those 6 years, there is a LCI introduced in year 3. They're not in a hurry, it's how it's marketed...
Clearly two different cars there. The rear looks like a photoshop mash-up with a non turbo roofline, turbo exhaust and paceman taillights. Front's not bad to me...not liking the rear. But I think its all a bogus art project at this point
I know it's just a rendering, but I like where it's going. Different cues, but the same familiar MINI concept.
As far as all the whining about the smaller hood scoop, you guys are aware that it's non-functional, right? All it is is a suggestion that there's something a little more under the hood.
What do you people want, the same thing unchanged for another 20 years? Come on, have some hint of a sense of adventure and instead of complaining about every little thing that's not the same, how about a little excitement for something that's different and -- God forbid -- maybe even better.
