Custom R56 Dash
So I wanted to put a custom wood dash in my R56. I made a few mock ups using, walnut and black stained ash. Let me know what you think.

Real wood or just a sticker?

Real wood. I might I would make a wood under the for veneer. I also might just place veneer over the plastic, but I feel that would end badly.

I think it would be cool but, it is all about execution. Good luck.

What are the colors for your car's seats and exterior? I like the ash best, but I think the walnut would look nice with some interior/exterior combos.

I think the walnut looks a bit dated. The black stained ash looks the most modern but then a bit BMW. I'm leaning towards the black stained ash.

I like the middle one, it is the richest-looking. Something about the red tints in it, I think. The others, especially the ash, are way too cold for me.

I adore the first one. But I have always had a fondness for black stained wood. If you find a source, let me know. I would order it in a minute if I could get it.

I talk to someone who has a wood shop about it they said either veneer the plastic or make the full piece of wood from one block.

If the inside is black, than stick with black theme (#1).

Great idea, solid wood would work or a real veneer, if you get the right grain.
#2 in my eye.

Not a fan of wood, but #1 has me re-thinking my stance!

No doubt about it go with ash. It's a cleaner look and will look less "aged" as the years go on.

I have made progress. I have carved the shape out. I still need to fine sand it, as well as stain, gloss, and buff it.

becausemini,
I was doubtful about this topic when I first read it, but your progress looks GREAT! Consider me jealous. Very nice work. Please keep us posted with your progress.

Nice progress but I'm curious to how you will attach these.
