Best Interior Mods/ Accessories?
Any ideas? So far I have the iPod auxiliary, a aftermarket cup holder which came with the MINI, and a custom 'Liquid Yellow Owners Club' coaster in the other cup holder. I was wanting to hear what you guys have done and any ideas I may try out!
I really like the Rubber Center Console Tray from outmotoring.com:

It keeps all my change from flying around taking corners. I just wish Mini made the compartment a 1/2 inch wider... my Galaxy S3 doesn't fit.

I second the rubber cubby storage. I have them in mine as well
Other interior mods I have:
1. Whalen 2-ball shift **** (nice weighty feeling)
2. Mini Fini cup holder
3. Zippeeshade sunroof covers (a MUST if you live here)
4. Recaro SR-7
Mods I have planned:
1. leather/alcantara shift & e-brake boots
2. e-brake handle
3. boost & oil pressure gauges

tons of stuff you can do!
here are some ideas from my projects.
fire extinguisher and bracket:

extra switch panel

gauges galore! along with vinyl wrapped steering wheel bits...

some self defense mace

behind the seat cubby

Boot Cooler

DIY rear seat pull straps

glovebox flashlight holder

top mounted glove box window breaker / seat belt cutter

you can cover all your ugly screws with screw caps

DIY floor mat

custom shift *****

i made this crazy gear position indicator...

you can get some sound deadening material (i used GTmat) and rip apart the inside of your mini...

i dont have pics, but you can get some caps for the big holes in the sides of the doors, to cover the screw holes. about $1 a pack a lowes or similar.

I need some details on this!!! looks a little crazy but I love the result!
I installed the Euro parcel tray under the steering wheel and love it. I am wanting a center armrest, all of my other vehicles have one and I miss having it in the Mini. It gives you a stable platform while driving harder. I liked the results/sound I got from adding the CAI, I would guess on the R50 it would make a performance difference (I have an R53). I have a short shift kit I can't wait to get installed. I too second the rubber trays, it's amazing that such a small item can make your life so much easier. I go from a Mini with no storage to a 22 foot Sprinter van that has factory storage nooks every where you look.
My #1 vote though would be the armrest for comfort and performance.

eBay has gear position indicators for motorcycles for like $5. That's where I got the idea. By simply grounding out one of the 5 wires, the unit puts that # on the display.
The hard part was again, working with the reed switches and magnets. Basically, for each gear, the magnet activates the corresponding reed switch, grounding out the appropriate wire. I also had to use a spring and metal connection to cut off the activation of other reed switches depending on the position of the stick shift. If you want to pm me, I can explain further. The concept is fairly simple actually, it just looks crazy bc of all the wires
Wow! Nice work. You definitely win the award for the most MacGyvered, James Bond, Star Trek Mini ever!
Thanks! Took a while to get all the magnets lined up.

For me, the best mods were:
Gauges. Specifically, a ScanGauge (4 readouts from the OBD2 system and/or calculations based off of inputs from that system), and a place for my iPhone, which I use as a GPS.
I might not have gotten the SG if I had gotten the phone first, because OBD2 dongles aren't that expensive nor are the apps to show you readings from them. But I got the SG first, and I'm glad I have both. I couldn't use the phone as a GPS if I were using it for gauges.
