once the SC is off the car, you can unbolt the cover, and check the gears...you will know IMEADATELY if it was your issue. You COULD get lucky and have a good SC, and a bad water-pump....
Like I said, The SC gear-lube is sold at GM dealers (they have a bunch of EATON ((the SC makers)) SC cars) and the SC can require regular lube changes in SOME installs. Two bottles is enough to change the oil (if I remember right) in both the pulley part, and the lower part. So ANAEROBIC sealant is just used to seal the plate for the waterpump back up with the bolts!
Good luck! Hope it all continues to go well (as good as it can with your car in parts)!!

Good luck with all you do with your MINI. Nothing is more satisfying then when you do the work yourself and learn from doing it. How about some pics of you and your MINI? Good luck and we are here for you.

I'm still not seeing what caused you to think you need a new alternator. Did it test bad? Was the battery not charging?
If the water pump is bad, you DO need to rebuild the SC. See the earlier pics from Zippy - there is a gear on the back of the SC (called a Power Take-Off, or PTO) that turns the water pump. If water pump wasn't working properly, yours probably looks like the one in the picture. Replacement of that gear is not a DIY.

I pray to god it's only the water pump lol... I want my car back. Like when it over heated it shoes the oil temp gauge went to red when I turned the car on sometimes before we took her apart
