dealership mess up my order
dealership mess up my order
I placed an order 8 weeks ago and the car finally here. I found out there is one of the option missing and they are trying to ask me place another order. However I don't want to wait another 8 weeks since I don't have a car to drive during this time. What are my options?
1: place another order wait 8 weeks and ask for more discount and rent a car?
2: ask for more discount and take the car?
3: file a complaint to miniusa? (does it works?)
4: any suggestion?
How much more discount should I ask for if I take the car or place another order?
Please help!!!
P.S. The option is the seat. they gave me the seat I really don't like.
( if you are my sales who looking at this thread then you should know how much I hate the seat and see what others will do with deal with this situation ) LOL
UPDATE:
offer from dealership:
option 1 dealer offer additional $500 off the car sitting in the lot
option 2 order a new car with original terms.
HAHA I want to say "FUXK ME" there is a 2013 335i offer from BMW which I like.
I send them my offer and will pick up the 335i if they refuse.
I will let everyone know which Mini dealership I ordered from for reference if they refuse my offer.
I would say my offer is reasonable:
original 7% off MSRP + additional $1250 off which I deserve (I added additional package on my new order since I don't want them loss too much money)
UPDATED.
Lease the 335 and the 1000 deposit go to bmw as a msd. Mini Dealer will not give me a loaner even I placed a new order. They wants $4000+ for the Recaro and they keep the original leathered seat. I walked and get the 335 with Sport,Tech,Weather,Premium. Still a happy customer with extra debt. LOL
I love the Mini I ordered in the first place, however the seat is not what I want. I would say Mini is the best stick shift compact car and will buy one in the future if I have extra money.

honestly to me it would depend on what the option was, and how big a deal it is that it's missing. if it's a big deal, let them order a new car and then mini should give you a loaner until the new car comes in. if not, ask for a discount, but again it depends on what the option is. if it's missing say a sport package that's kind of a big deal, so if you took the car asking for a discount of 1-2k probably wouldn't be out of the question. but if its say got the wrong color headliner, then i wouldn't expect too much of a discount.
so really, it depends on what's missing and how much of a problem it is. also, was the issue in the production side or did they order the car wrong? if the order was wrong you have more room to negotiate, if the production was wrong, that's not your dealers fault so they may be less willing to negotiate.

Why not ask for a loaner car then while they order the right one or locate one at another dealer. Does another one already there have the seats you want? Maybe they can just swap the seats from the other.
The seat is not what I want.
They gave me leatherette sport seat and I want the JCW blackered cloth seat and this is why I added the JCW package because the cloth seat.
Thanks for your comment

Don't settle then. Ask for a loaner car while they get you what you want. I always say that you should treat the world like Burger King " When I am paying I am having it my way"
They don't allow swap seat from other new car because the sticker is firm with what in the car.
I can't find other car in the lot and thats why I order one.
I ask for recaro and pay addition $1500 to them to fix the problem. What do you think

I have a questions regarding loaner car.
1: how many miles I can drive during this time?
2: who responsible the insurance?
3: what loaner I can ask for or they offer? (my order MSRP is $28800)
Thanks

I would take a loaner, order a new one, and still get a discount for your trouble and extended time. It's not like it's a week or two. 8 weeks is a long time. Always remember, they're not the only dealer on the planet.

I am living in Norther California and there is 2 dealership within 50 miles and 6 dealership within 100 miles.

Do what you think you can. But remember, you will have to deal with this dealer for a long time while your car is under warranty unless you have another dealer close by. So you might not want to rock the boat too much. IMO just ask for a loaner and let them reorder it.
Dealership mistake.
I checked the order and ask why the leatherette is checked and the JCW cloth is checked too. Then the sales said it should be JCW cloth since I order the JCW interior package too. This is why I pay 3K for JCW package + interior package.

Thanks for your advise.
I don't prefer loaner since I hate driving something not mine and used. I rather have a discount on the Recaro or place a new order with additional discount on package.

I drove 3000 miles per month which mean I will put 6000 on the car for 8 weeks.
My current car has 86000 within 2.5 year
My current car has 86000 within 2.5 year
I had the same exact issue when my 2002S was delivered, without the multi-function steering wheel I wanted. I have regretted accepting the car without that option ever since cause I didn't want to wait an additional 2 months for a new one. Trust me the two month wait is nothing especially if its for an item you really want and plan to keep the car for a long time, cause every time you slide into that seat you will remind yourself (while being pissed off) that you didn't demand getting what you originally ordered. Negotiate a loaner with the dealer, and believe me it won't take them 8 weeks to get the one you want to arrive cause the dealer doesn't want to wait 8 more weeks to finalize the sale, they will do everything they can to get what you want as quickly as they can. The dealer wants to close fast, thats why they are attempting to get you to accept what they have, the next best results for the dealer is to get what you originally wanted as fast as possible so they will work hard to achieve that. Before negotiating anything with them, ask the dealer to show you their "original build sheet order", you need to do this in order to find out where the problem occurred, the strongest position to negotiate the best deal is when the complete truth is on the table. Did the problem originate with the dealer or with Mini Corporate? Once you have determined where the problem occurred you will have a clear position to negotiate from. And as someone said earlier drive off the lot to another dealer if they refuse to equitably negotiate a reasonable agreement, and if they refuse, its not a dealer you want to do business with in the future. Understood? Good luck! And let us know how it turns out.
Thanks for your info
The dealer make a mistake on the order.
I have 2 options for them to choice:
1: Place a new order with addtional package I want and $1K+ additional discount
2: give me the Recaro seats for discount price I am willing to pay (1.5K).
+
Loaner car of course since I don't have a car.
What do you think. is this too much to ask for since my car MSRP is $28800
Thanks

They are going to call me later and give me what they are offering. I will keep you guys update for future reference.

HAHA Nice, however, my order doesn't come with rear seat.
Thanks
Thanks
They didn't give me a call back yet. And the heated seat is a must for Recaro as I know.
Thanks

HAHA I want to say "FUXK ME" there is a 2013 335i offer from BMW which I like.
I send them my offer and will pick up the 335i if they refuse.
I will let everyone know which Mini dealership I ordered from for reference if they refuse my offer.
I would say my offer is reasonable:
original 7% off MSRP + additional $1250 off which I deserve (I added additional package on my new order since I don't want them loss too much money)
P.S. they told me the Recaro seats cost them $4K+ to install. (coupe S only need 2 seats.) LOL I can get a porsche 911 seat for less than this price on ebay or some website.
