New Oil Life Detection Tech

As a new Mini owner (R56 MCS) I found great interest in this article. I'm very leery of 12k-15k oil change intervals and dependence on the onboard computer to tell me when to change to oil (time and drive pattern based?). I'm also not fond of 3k premature oil changes (that interval set for your dads Oldsmobile with carbs leaking fuel into the oil past the loosy goosy piston rings).

This new tech seems like a great development...I may buy one.

cheers.
