My mind is blown... You all realize that is a pre-production interior right? Of course trims don't fit together well. There is plenty of camoflauge trim over everything to keep the car disguised. 1 photo of an un-covered prototype interior and the MINI world goes to s***.

Pretty sure everyone reacted this way to the Countryman, and the R56 when that was released.

Just glad to say I bought a 2006 First Gen MCS; never will buy another newer Mini because they won't even look like the real first Mini's !

Too big, too busy, Etc . . . . . . . . . .

I laugh at statements like these because, IMO, I'm sure the REAL first Mini owners hated the new generations.

Got that right! I remember dome of the comments that stated that the Suzuki at they time was more of a Mini Cooper than the new R50 was. That was brutal.

My car has the nav option, so the speedo and tach are right in front of you, where (in my opinion) they belong. Although its cool and quirky, I never liked the big speedo. It never seemed safe or convenient to look away from the road to see how fast you were going. If I get another MINI, and I probably will, I will get it the same way until its no longer offered.

Standard Mini getting a 3 cyclinder 1.5L "Turbo?"

That's what the May 2013 issue of Auotmobile magazine says. That is really sad to hear, if true. Having a non-turbo base model is why I took a chance on the Mini brand. I know the "S" owners here love their turbo boosted rockets, but I've owned turbo cars beofre and they do have more "issues" in general. IMHO the base model should not be a turbo.

Automobile states the S and JCW will get a 4 cyclinder 2.0L. No mention of turbo, but I think one can assume they will be boosted. Now that change is a real winner!

Looks like there will be more four doors coming in the future as well. Here's their third generation WHEN timeline paragraph:

Mid-2014 (two- and four-door hatchback), 2015 (Clubman, Cabriolet), 2016 (Roadster, Coupe, Countryman), 2017 (Paceman, Spacebox, sedan)

Spacebox? Sedan?

What I'd like to see is a 2.0L non-turbo option. More grunt, less problems... (I have a hard time getting behind anything 3 cyclinder)

Although, I'm certainly open to a Supercharged 2.0L option

A while back on MotoringFile they commented on the 2.0 for the S. 187 hp and no turbo, so you may get your wish. It was hinted that the JCW would have the turbo version, no hp given.

Cooper, Cooper S, and JCW will *all* be turbos on the 2014 models as clarified by MF several times. Yes, all of them.

Check back about a month ago, when they released the 2.0 engine. They stated that time that the
S would PROBABLY not be turbo on account of the low horsepower rating on the two liter. That's how I read it anyway. A good non turbo two liter with approximately 200 hp would really be nice. Whatever, in a couple months we will all know.

I just hope the CM JCW stays the same but gets a 2.0L engine. Just imagine how awesome that MINI would be. That's the next MINI I look forward to owning!

I was just going by their comments in the F56 engine spec article...
MF: "As we keep repeating, all MINI engines will be turbo going forward, this includes the Cooper"

Who knows, we shall see!

I'm driving in downtown LA, silverlake area. I was at a light and a new X5 in camo pulled up. Looked pretty cool. Light changed and I let them get ahead so I could check out the rear. They pulled ahead and then bam, camo'd F56 right behind him.

I waved to the driver and he surprisingly waved back! Couldn't see much of the inside despite my best efforts but the outside actually looked pretty good. Much better than the pics online or some reason.

But yeah. That was exciting. Now back to driving

Keep in mind that, aside from the fact that these are camo'd pre-production pics, the steering wheel is a BMW piece to further the disguise. The REAL steering wheel looks very similar to the current (there have been a few pics of it online). I still think it's interesting that the engine start button is now a large rocker in the center stack. Did anyone else notice that in the pic of the dash with nav, the auto gear shift is in drive position, with nobody in the seat, and the parking brake is not set?

I'll second that!

The one I saw looked like it had nav. The screen wasn't on as far as I could see tho. The windows were a little dark so it was hard to see inside.

Maybe for the complaints about the speedo, they should pre program the digital one into the tach. I did that, and barely ever look at the one in the middle

Just curious guys, do you think the Countryman will get a remodel too like the F56? Interior mostly? I really hope not. I was looking forward in two years to move up to that since I will probably have kids or what not later on.

I am not a fan at all with what they did. If they are not putting the center Speedo, why still have the spot for it. just move the CD player down.lower (like the R53)

After doing more research I found this, that made me less pissed off.

Hope this ease peoples mind on it

Maybe they are listening...

The 2012 Mini dash is unique simplist flow at its best. It's a big part of the Mini appeal!

Why change it so drastically? Don't be square Mini!!!
