Striping opinions wanted

My wife's new black on black Countryman came in and got striped by the dealer (subbed out, they didn't do it themselves). It was supposed to be the bonnet stripes as shown on the "build your own" then the "sport" roof and boot stripes which should have been skinny/fat/fat/skinny including over the sunroof. Instead we got just the fat stripes, nothing over the sunroof, and the bonnet stripes were just the fat stripes too.

So they're going to fix it. I'm now thinking instead of the standard bonnet stripes to keep what's there and just add the skinny stripe on the outside of the fat. Then they'll add the skinny stripes across the roof and down the boot, and add the fat/skinny across the sunroof.

We're also contemplating door stripes, although the dealer is quoting me $300 as "their cost".

So I'm looking for opinions. If we want they'll peel off the bonnet stripes that are there so we can do what we want on the bonnet. Yay or nay on the door stripes?

Here's what it looks like now, forgive the messy garage.

Thanks!

my 2 cents: keep the RACING stripes on the roof. Then remove/replace bonnett/boot stripes with MATCHING racing stripes (pic below grabbed from the net)

I am trying to make some stripe decisions myself. I know I want to do the double side door stripes. I think I want to do the bonnet stripes and nothing on the roof then two stripes on the back hatch but on the sides of the hatch. I think the fat then thin along with it looks good like you are talking about. In my opinion if you want racing stripes on the roof you need to do the whole car in racing stripes not bonnet on the front and then stripes down the middle. I am also talking to my sign guy/painter right now to come up with some painted ideas for mine and his own creation to really stand out from the factory stickers. I will post pictures when I figure out what I am going to do good luck.

i agree to have them straighten the bonnet stripes with a solid double, not that pitchfork thing. they just don't flow the way they are now, especially since they're centered on the roof and the boot. also.. IMHO, make sure they do the little piece of the front bumper between the grills and not just end at the top of the bonnet.

i also like the side sport stripes, but i think there's also some really cool aftermarket graphics that would look great on the side as opposed to a double red stripe

Te bonnet stripes loom very out of place, especially since you have the rear stripes in the center. Get the sport stripes for the bonnet to match the roof. It'll look really sharp.

+1 to straightening the bonnet stripes to continue the line down the center, and then add the skinny stripes. For a saucier look, maybe the skinny stripe in a different color or metallic.

I agree with everyone else that the bonnet stripes should match the rest of the car. Adding "chaser" stripes to each side of the sport stripes will really make your color combo look nice. The chaser stripes that I have seen look best are 1/4" wide with 1/4" gap between the chaser and main stripe. Some decide to do the chasers a little wider which looks good as well. Good luck deciding and making your Mini YOUR Mini! As a side note, I have the custom vinyl ordered to have my bonnet stripes changed to sport stripes with chasers as well.

Down the center looks the best. The Countryman models look great in black with red center stripes and red on black vice versa.

I really like the wide double stripes on the Paceman JCW.

Hi all! I have the dbl straight down the middle & back. Would like stripes on front and rear bumpers also. Anyone have suggestion on how to prep the area- bonnet stripes vs. Paint? Help. Will have clear bra installed once this is complete. Thanks.

Are you installing the stripes yourself? Make sure to clean the paint really well and claybar if needed so it's nice and smooth. Then wash it with blue dawn dishsoap to remove the wax and install the stripes.

Or have the folks who are doing the clearbra do the stripes too.
