Sunroof, why?

I was really on the fence ordering my sunroof on my '08 MCS. On one hand no sunroof gives you more headroom, less complexity thus, no rattles and a proper roof for a huge *** Union Jack However, I went with the sunroof because I live in the Seattle area where sunlight is a premium and it lessened claustrophobic feeling I got with the narrow windshield. There's my rationalization.

I actually like ours. Sunlight isn't a problem in summer, and the screen it comes with seems to do an adequate job of filtering out excessive light. Besides, my Grand Prix that I had for 5 years had one, and the shade was always open. I do, however, agree that the sunroofs on these are just freaking massive...

I love my sunroof. I wave at other MINIs through it!

When I want to go topless I take out my fifty-year old Pontiac. My father bought it new and left it to me twelve years ago when he passed away. It's a boat, but with a big block 389 it has plenty of power.

If I were going to configure and order one, I would not option it with a sunroof. Just dont use one enough for the money. But I bought off the lot and went for the one with the most technology (which also had a sunroof). I dont think of it as flawed or a future maintenance issue. Problem is I just dont think of it at all.

My prior work car, a 02 MB C coupe, had the pano sunroof. I never had an issue out of it. No rattles, no noises, never broke. I dont expect any issues from my MINIs sunroof.

Nah, I'll wait for you to trade-in your beautifully maintained MINI so you can take the depreciation hit. LOL! Only kidding, well, not really. I'm buying used bec there's no significant difference btwn a new car and one that's got low miles on it. I still get a warranty/service 'freebies' (nothing's really free - trust me, you're paying for it! BMW doesn't exist to make us happy, folks. It's a business).

They all do. You just need to wait for about 50 years.

I get a lot of thumbs up when I drive it, and people walk up to me when I park it and ask about it too, but finding a parking spot in today's little parking spaces can sometimes be a problem. I take it out about ten times a year - usually to the beach or up the mountain. It's been a garage kept car for fifty years and that helped in keeping it look clean.
