When we purchased our mini in PDX in mid-November we were told sometime in 2013 (mid year), time will tell...

If it is just the adapter you need that changes the large 30 pin to the Lightning end they are selling them at Best Buy for $29 if I remember correctly.

You can get a 30pin - lightning adapter at the Apple Store or at Best Buy or order it online. Not at the dealerships yet and probably won't be.

iphone 5 Snap in Adapter

The adapter I'm speaking of is the device that allows the phone to be placed in the armrest of the car. Bmw/Mini has it for the Iphone 4 but not the 5.......yet.

I did pick up a lightning adapter yesterday.

Thank you

You probably already know this but a word of caution to other iPhone 5 owners: be sure you get the official Apple lightening adapter! The cheap Asian knockoffs from Ebay won't transmit the data correctly apparently. Also, you can't just plug in the phone's normal charging cable. This is really a quandary for me. We have a 2012 128i that will real iPhone 4's and 5's using the normal charging cable, but our 2013 X1 and 2013 MCS won't. Should be the same radio system though right??

So this is news to me, there will be a snap in adapter that goes in the armrest?

If this is anything like other iphone models the armrest snap-in adapter for the iphone 5 will be available about the same time as Apple's release of the Iphone 7.
