The Chrome Package... Thoughts?
The Chrome Package... Thoughts?
I'm just curious about everyone else's opinion on the chrome package. I feel as though the package on 2010 and older Mini's is quite a bit more attractive. However, the current version can be done well with the potential to make a car a total stand-out. What do you all think?
My Mini came with the chrome line exterior and it looks great against the dark paint. I'm glad it didn't have the chrome interior though. It looks a little to glitzy for my taste. The anthracite rings fits the interior much better anyway.
My used MINI came with the chrome line interior/exterior. Falling prey to the hive mind, I blacked it out... and it looked absolutely terrible (plasti-dip.)
I removed the black stuff after a short time.
I still don't feel I would pay extra on a new car for shinier plastic bits, and I think too much looks cheap and tacky, but the chrome cup holders, etc, look sharp on the black interior.

I am with you on this one. I think the chrome interior package is a must. I wish my MINI had come with it. The previous owner did order it with the exterior chrome package, of which I have blacked out. Some of the MINIs, depending on color combonations, would look good with the exterior chrome package. It does make them look a bit classy.
I got the chrome interior, and love it. I also got the chrome mirror caps which look really good on the Lightning Blue exterior. If I had hadn't done the JCW body kit I would have probably done the chrome line exterior too. I keep thinking about getting the chrome strip over the license plate too.
I love the chrome line interior on a MINI. It seems that 90% of all car interiors these days are just a sea of black plastic. Having the chrome accents make the interior look more like a classic car, than a new age honda/toyota/etc.
The chrome in general on the mini is just not my taste and it's my opinion that chrome is a pre-2000 aesthetic look that doesn't belong on 'sporty' cars (similar to the gold emblem package some cars would come with).
Painted black just looks better on an enthusiasts car.
Or, perhaps it's just because I'm not over 40 years old.

I ordered the interior chrome package because it reminds me of the interior of my parents' assorted old English cars (MGs, Morris Minors, etc.) I think it dresses up my Clubman's interior, but without being gaudy. I passed on the exterior chrome because I like the standard level of chrome on the outside of the car; the exterior chrome package seemed to me to be a little too much.
Our pre-owned lease return came with the chrome package and at first I wasn't too hot on it but my wife liked it and it was going to be mainly her car so I bought it. I do have to say that after awhile it has grown on me.
A bit off topic, but those Web-spokes are heavenly!

Well you're a cool 49er in my book
