Hey guys, so I bought the osram 65w H7 bulbs for my mini. But they come just the bulb, with the two prongs, not the connector type. Any diy on how to install these? Do I have to buy some connector or do the old bulbs come out of the connector that they are in

 

I've never done it, but this video alludes to them having the flange as part of the bulb (I'm assuming that's what you're talking about?).

 

The connector pulls off, then there's a clip that you move and the old bulb comes out.
Installation is the reverse of unstallation.

 

mine are not like this, the bulbs i bought yes are like that one, but my original bulbs have the connector on them.

 

What year MINI do you have and does it have halogen or xenon bulbs?

Gen 1 halogens are H7 which look like this:








and gen 2 halogens are H13/9008 which look like this:




They're not interchangeable.

 

I have the gen 2, bought the gen 1....are these swappable? Does that connector come off? I tried but it wasn't budging and I was worried I was gonna break it

the GEN1 used a separate bulb for the high and low beams ... both H7 but sep' bulbs with different aim and reflector

GEN2 uses a dual filament bulb - H13 - one bulb covers high and low

if we'd looked REALLY REALLY close we'd have seen you've a GEN2 from your sig' picture ... but is a good example of why you should describe your car in any question - more than a small picture.
