Squealing fan

Recently and not consistantly a fan of some sort squeals. I have noticed that it usually squeals when the car is at a stoplight. It is a constant velocity so it's not the heater fan or the radiator cooling fan as it squeals untill i am going down the road at some speed then it stops only to return when I stop. It sounds as if it's coming from under the hood as opposed to from under the car. Of course it stops squealing as soon as I get out of the car to investigate. I'm guessing that it is the power steering pump fan as that's the only other fan on the mini that I know of...is there another? Any ideas?
Thanks

fan squeal

2005 MCS R52, 38k
I'm pretty sure it's the power steering cooling fan.

quick guess but what you hear 20 years ago would have been "fan belt squeal"

I suspect it is time for a new 'accessory belt' aka serpentine belt or a look at the power steering as mention but I find the former much more common . . .

since both the ps fan and radiator fan are electrical...no real squeal...they can bind, but the fuses blow pretty quick.
the belt should be changed due to age....simply chancing it could be $$.
Loose the belt, and you need a tow...you loose everything, including the waterpump....and can do about an extra $400 in dammage as the tennsioner whips back...
After replacement, i bet you will notice more power too!!
