got vandalized the other day - some bozo broke the right rear tail lamp cover and, of course, all I can find is total lamp replacements... since the lamp works great, wonder if anyone makes the clear cover or do I have to bite the ol' bullet?

 

May have to bite the bullet on this one. I haven't seen any lenses desperate from the lamp

 

Lense is glued to tge reflextor to make it watertight....

 

concur, they come as a unit . . . if your car is older you might have luck at a salvage yard getting one off a wreck but otherwise ...

 

I've seen them for under $50 on eBay and CraigsList but wonder if they're in good, working condition... at this point I'm not buying anything but still wanted to check it out - of course the dealer wants $119!

but IMO that not a bad price . . . I bought a new model AUDI once and within 2 weeks of ownership someone had backed into and broken the headlight lens. It was wife's car and she'd said - no problem, don't worry about it.

The headlight unit was $600 . . . and not available for several weeks

remember, a part from the dealer .. if it does not work, you CAN take it back to the dealer. Salvage part ??? Your housing should be foolproof but if you EBay buy arrives with broken sockets???? Who ya gonna call?

 

sorry for the delay - I was gagging over the price of that Audi headlight!
and making sure that everyone was okay after the REALLY BIG ONE at Talladega...
since the "rainy season" isn't imminent here in Long Beach, I'm gonna wait a bit before spending the $$ - and I'll try to get a better price from the dealer - since I used to work there...
