Infinity Auto Insurance...reviews?
Infinity Auto Insurance...reviews?
After 8 years of insuring cars with GEICO, I'm thinking of moving my policy to Infinity, but wanted to see if my fellow MINI motorers can advise me first.
I've been happy with GEICO, but without a single ticket - let alone accident or claim of any sort - and despite turning 40, my rates haven't dropped a cent. I was discussing home owner's insurance with my agent, and she got a quote for me from Infinity for significantly less than GEICO.
My hesitation is that I've never heard of Infinity. When I Google them, I did not see positive reviews, though I try to bear in mind that people go to the interwebz to kvetch & complain, not compliment.
Has anyone been insured by Infinity or had any experience with them? Without a money tree in my backyard I watch my budget like most everyone else, but I'd rather have quality coverage and peace of mind/ease of use when I need it, and am willing to pay a bit more for it. Just because Infinity is cheaper doesn't (necessarily) mean they're better, but was hoping I might get input here before making a decision.
TIA!

I worked for Infinity for 7.5 years. Funny enough, I now work for the company that insures their company vehicles (Infinity focuses on private passenger insurance, not commercial, hence they don't insure their own fleet). I was an adjuster/appraiser for several years, then did fraud investigation.
I was very happy with them. They pay what they owe, defend what they don't. They tend to be more aggressive than your larger companies. For example, they'll defend a questionable injury case harder against a plaintiff attorney. A lot of smaller companies are, especially in the private passenger world. The adjusters for them are "jack of all trades". So they'll be the one to come out and appraise your car in person, take your statement about the accident, talk to the other driver, make a liability decision, pay the claim, work with the body shop, etc... You'll definitely want to make sure you follow the provisions of the policy, as they definitely will enforce them. Infinity, like pretty much all other insurance companies, can and will use alternate parts in repairs of a vehicle. Whether that means used parts or aftermarket will vary, but they do utilize them. Not sure what their threshold for that is anymore. Most insurance companies do something like 2 model years and newer get OEM parts only.
Overall, I'd have no hesitation using Infinity. They're a solid and stable company, and they handle their claims promptly and fairly.

They are rated A 10 by A.M. Best, an insurance company rating agency, which is fairly good. I wouldn't have a hesitation using this company as far as worrying about them being around, but having never used them myself, I can't speak to how their customer relations are. I would go by Klayfish's review above for that.
