really, a $51k mini?
really, a $51k mini?
so, i went to the mini website, the "main" one. got bored, and decided to build a nice JCW roadster...
well, a few options later, then a few more "upgrade" options later, i look at my bad@ss new mini. quite awesome.
then, i look over, and see the price!
$51,000. really? over $50k for a mini?
im sorry, but NO.
minis are nice... but not That nice. plastic is plastic, regardless of what color it is... go ahead, try it, see if you cant make it cost less than 40k... harder than you think!

For that money either a 2013 BMW 135is or a slightly used 08-12 M3 looks really good.

Let's see. If I got there and price one using similar options to what I ordered for my CM I get to $38,580 (this included metallic paint, stripes and blackjack side scuttles and an automatic transmission)
To compare I decided to price out an Audi TTS roadster and max out the motor (since this is the JCW), but keep the other options modest unless necessary (no upgraded seats or nav, basically). That's $55,020 - so quite a bit more.

I am not sure if a JCW, tricked with struts, suspension, seats etc. is not worth 45k, which car in this class can be purchased for 45k and have the bells and whistles that a Mini JCW has ?

so, i re-did my mini, got it back "down" to 49k, like you. i cant see the diff btwn the JCW body kit, and not having it on the car (based on the online pics). it just seems to shade the car differently. also, if you read the "fine print", it says the JCW body kit "comes primed and ready for paint"... wtf does that mean, you have to have the car Painted after you buy it?! well, thats Another $1k easy!
i think ive given up on the roadster, only bc it looks so lame with the top UP
. now, if they made it a hard top -removeable cabrio, im back in! (or something to that effect)
That was a Goodwood Edition Cooper S?
I don't condone the price, but don't pretend there isn't levels of quality in leather. The leather jacket for sale at Walmart for $59 is easily seen to be different than something you'd get at a boutique for $400. And there's a LOT of nice, quality leather in those Goodwoods.
Honestly, I would have to say over $35K for a MINI is ludicrous. For what you get, I don't understand how anyone would pay over $30K. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my MINI, but I bought it lightly used for under $20K. I'll let someone else pay the ridiculous MSRP.
