Migrating All-weather mats... solutions?

Working for different makes in dealerships over the past 10+ years I have noticed that every single one has a post, or pin or clips in the floor to help against the mats moving.

Every car but MINI.

Every single day I have to yank my rubber mats back, no hyperbole here, EVERY day.

Has anyone done anything or had any success stopping this?

My 2009 OEM all weather mat (driver's side) has large Velcro pads at the back (near the seat) and does not move.

I posted pictures somewhere in here a few years ago showing two tin can lids (cleaned and edges smoothed down) with velcro stuck to them screwed down to the floor, where the corners nearest the seat will be, with a 1/2 inch sheet metal screw and a patch of velcro stuck to the underside, corresponding position, of the mat. If you question the wisdom of screwing them down to the floor, OEM carpet mats come with two velcro discs each with 1/2 inch sheet metal screws.

You'll want to puch a hole in the center of the lid with a nail or something first.

Are the R56 mats that much different than the R53? I've never once had my all-weather mats slip even a centimeter.

That could be a safety hazard,Toyota had a recall a few years ago for floor mats causing unintended acceleration.

Not pointing fingers or being judgmental but doesn't that touch on being a victim rather than taking a proactive aproach and seeking a solution like our inquisitive OP is doing?

If you don't have the velcro pads/anchors, you should be able to get them from your dealer for free. If your mats don't have the velcro pad on the bottom for the anchors to attach to, you can get sticky-backed heavy-duty velcro from a hardware store to put on the mats.

I just use double sided carpet tape and it works real well. Also removable.

My rubber mats came with a screw in post that threads into the carpet pile and a hook that goes thru the rubber mat.

It may or may not be MINI but it is identical to the ones used for BMW's.

Yeah, my R56 came with the pictured velcro as well...didn't have any problems with them sliding around.

Cleaning the all weather mats...now that's another story. So awful/difficult to clean, that this time around I opted to just get the regular carpeted mats for my R60.
