Question for convertible owners

How many have swapped out the "Top Down" gauge for something more practical (and in my opinion, less stupid)? I was thinking about turning it into a temp. gauge. I think i saw one on the MiniUSA site. Any other ideas?

I think most of us convertible owners have wished for something in place of the "Openometer." I too would like a temperature gauge but I have not seen any that would work. Seems it would be easy for some company to make a gauge that we could, after gutting the Openometer housing, install. But I am probably wrong. And there may just not be a viable, profitable market for this.
