Firefighting MINI

I am a firefighter and would like to install some red lights on my new MCS. On my pick-up, I simply have a set of LED lights that sit on the dash. For the MINI, I was hoping for something more concealed and out of the way, but I can't quite see where I can squeeze in any lights other than on the dash.

There must be a few firefighters lurking here. What dod you guys do?

I did a quick google search. You could grab some visor lights (like these: http://www.extremetacticaldynamics.c...roducts_id=120) and wire them up. I think they would be out of the way and would work fairly well.

Not my MINI (Mine is the blue one in the back) but this is pretty cool, even has a big fire department badge on the sides.

Could you somehow mount them behind the grille?

Not subtle, but maybe use some colored vinyl over your driving lights to mimic the ones on cop bikes.

Then replace bulbs with strobes.

I can't believe I actually suggested vinyl, but those lights look like they'd be too big, plus you already have the driving lamps.

Interesting links, Samui! This visor version is compact and looks pretty slick:

Personally I'm entertained by the idea of the Mini for the MINI.

I was going to suggest some small LED flashers in the grill if they will fit. If not, I say go for the lights that go on your visor.
I like the idea of them mounted in the grill, with a switch cleanly mounted inside. Not into the big dash lights anymore!
Anything lower than the grill won't be very visible when you get close to other cars.

Funny I should see your post today. I am trying to do the same thing. I bought a dash light, corner led strobes, and grill lights for the front and rear. Hardest part will be making brackets for the grill. I'll post pics if I can when they are all installed.

firemerc, your brackets will most likely be different than Isirois's because his car is a 2nd gen MINI.

I may suggest somehow mounting the rear lights on the rear parcel shelf.

A lot of the guys put strobes in their headlights....drill holes and everything. I ordered my Mini with the Xenons, blacked out and clear signal markers....no way am I drilling into those pricy lights. I look forward to seeing what you can put behind the grill....awfully tight in there. I did think about strobes on the driving lights and applying a red film over them. That wouldn't break my heart as much.
