Does my tint look too dark? It is Huper Optic Ceramic 30.

I was having a difficult time deciding between the Huper Optik Ceramic 30 tint or the 40. I decided on the 30 on all the windows except for the windshield but it turned out darker than I was expecting. I think it still looks good but it just isn't the look I was going for. I think it would look great on a different colored Mini but I'm not sure on mine. The tint shop, Mr. Tint in San Jose CA, did a great job and I have no bubbles and no ghosting. They have a great reputation and do very good work. They are also willing to remove the tint for free and give me a discount if I decide to go lighter. I still wish I went a bit lighter but it is growing on me already and I might just keep it through the hot summer and then decide in the fall once I've had the chance to think about it. I am loving the heat reduction and it's optically superior to others I've seen! Here are a couple of pics I took in the shade. It does look lighter when in the sun. What do you guys think?

It looks darker here because of the angle

For California, I'd say no... as long as it's legal for the state I'd keep it.

I think it looks good.
Only you know if it's not right for you.
Good idea to live with it for awhile and see if it grows on you.

It's not legal to have any tint on your front windows in CA but I do have several friends in law enforcement that would be able to sign the ticket off if I were to get one.

I have the same tint on mine, also from Mr Tint. (Link: http://irieman.com/blog/wp-content/u...3/IMG_0400.jpg) If its your first time rolling w tinted windows it may take a week or so to get used to it. I actually chose a shade lighter than on my previous MINI, so it's all good. :tu:

I like it. I'm planning on doing 20s on the rear and 30s in the front.

Actually, you can have 70% or above tint on the front windows in California.

The rear side windows on my Mini Cooper appear darker than the fronts because of the light coming through the windshield and possibly because of the smaller windows in the back. It looks like I have 30 on the fronts and 20 on the rear windows but I actually have 30 all around. You can see through the fronts on a sunny day but it's still difficult to see through the rear windows. Keep this in mind when you tint yours.

Now that I know what the Huper 30 looks like on my Mini, I think I would have achieved the look I was going for with the Huper Optik C50. I'll keep these for a little while to make myself feel better about the money already spent and take advantage of the dark tint for the hot summer. I then plan to get the Huper C50 put on for the fall/winter.

I would say test it out on a overcast day, rainy day, and also in the night to see if you are seeing everything you need to see without having to look twice.

If it makes you feel uneasy to drive at night with this dark of a tint, get rid of it ... before you have an accident.

I think it looks fine. Incidentally how much did it cost for how many windows? also do they take care not to damage the rear defrost membrane? I don't want mine damaged if I get my car tinted.

Does the car seem cooler inside and easier on the eyes when its sunny out?

Thanks!

Chris

That is front side windows, not windshield.

I have no problems on overcast and rainy days like today or at night. It looks dark from the outside but has high visibility from the inside looking out. It isn't cheap but it's the nicest tint I've seen so far. I paid $400 out the door for all my windows minus the windshield. The tint is cut before installation using a program that already has the Mini's window dimensions in the database. No blades were used against my windows and the work was very clean and professional. Huper Optik comes with a lifetime warranty and Mr. Tint takes very good care of their customers if there is ever a problem from what I've read in reviews online.
