Ambient lighting

Hi Mini lovers! I just got a 2012 Clubman S, Ive tried researching and cant seem to find the answer...does the ambient light turn on and stay on when the headlights off? Just doesnt make sense that ambient light is on during the day, cant see its effect so Im not sure if this is normal or not. Please let me know if this is normal or not and does it wear out the lamps/bulb/ battery. Should I turn it off if there is a way during the day?. Thanks guys!

We have a 2011 clubman S and the lights stay on all the time. I have a feeling that they are LEDS because of the color change thing so the draw on electric systems is notta.

Yep, that's for sure. But I don't mind it. I have tints on my windows that are really dark so I enjoy the lights even during the day time

Ah well... I have yet to spend any significant time in it at night, I'll see if it bugs me then.

Yep its true you can't turn them off, just dim them way down.
Here is something that you should try though, when you change the color go to the end of the color selection and press and hold the lever for a couple seconds and it will flash then let it go. Enjoy all of the colors as they will now cycle though!!
I think they put this feature in starting in 2010, I recently had a loaner 2012 Clubman S and it works!!
This does not work on my 2009.
Give it a try and let me know what you think.

I wish more people on NAM would make use of the gallery and post pictures of their babies

I would like to see your MINI with the Yellow fog lights.
Enjoy my gallery photo's
