Sport mode as default
Sport mode as default
I have read many threads about two products and I am not sure which way to go so I am hoping those who have them can speak up and guide me.
I find the lag of the throttle when out of sport mode to be aggravating so I thinking of adding one of the following products.
http://www.fes-auto.com/products_det...p?productid=24
or
http://www.aj-racing.com/shop/produc...2&cat=0&page=1
The Auto Sport Plus is cheaper which is a plus.
I really do not care about the traction control or any other feature, just looking to tighten up the throttle response without having the press a button every time get into the car.
Your thought?

The products you've cited are for two different generations of MINI. You'll need to provide some info about your vehicle for anyone to be able to advise.
fwiw, on my 2nd Gen I did the DIY solution. This was before the FES solution was out.

I did not realize it, sorry.
I have a 2007 MCS R56.
Where do I find the DIY solution?
I am or was an electronic tech so I might be able to handle it.

Here is the link to the thread describing the DIY solution:

Actually, I think there may be 2 or 3 ways described to DIY it if you read through the whole thing. When I did mine, the following posts were particularly helpful to me:
- post #9 has a link to the circuit board you can order so you don't have to build your own.
- post #16 shows the wiring - I found it made sense once I finally had the unit in hand.
- post #28 is good at showing how it all goes together along with some of the other misc tools and parts you'll need
I would assume all the info in the thread will be valid for your 2007.

Thanks jcauseyfd,
Funny I had just found that page when you sent it.
I decided to go with the Auto Sport Plus from FES Auto.
It will work with the Sport mode and the Traction control, even though I have to find out why I would want to change that. LOL
It is also a hopefully simple install.
Thanks for getting back to me.

I have the FES one and it is awesome. I was constantly forgetting to enable it and almost stalling the car leaving my parking stop. It is so easy to disable (like when I had an oil change today at the dealership). I only use the SportMode feature. I find doing anything by default with the stability control is iffy on a mostly street use car.
The only tool you need is a star shaped socket to remove one panel and maybe pliers to remove some clips. Super easy to install, just watch out because those plastic clips behind the panel are sharp... use gloves.
