2 stage ignition cut wiring Q's
2 stage ignition cut wiring Q's
So I am looking to take on a fun little project for the mini. Something that will be different and for ***** and giggles. A 2 stage ignition cut.
So this requires tapping into an tach signal and into the ignition. I would presume before the coil pack. I have done some research an cant really find to much about the best place to get a tach signal from. Some say off the crank position sensor, some say off the coil pack.
The system works by reading the tach signal and me setting it to what ever I want my redline to be >= to the factory limiter. When it hits said rpm it cuts the spark. Now if I tapped into the coil pack for the tach signal where should one tap the unit into the system to actually cause the cut in spark. I would assume before the coil pack so it cuts all four cylinders. Could tapping both systems into the coil work against each other? If tapping into the coil pack, how about should I go about this and what wire would I want to make the split into?
I'm noT really to sure about this, as I am going to be walking into uncharted waters here. Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated. This will be going into a r53 jcw
