My Mini is now over seven years of age (2005) and is in perfect condition, and those are the words of the local BMW dealer service dept. My wife so loves the car that trading it is out of the question, so I am prepared to keep it indefinitely. With that in mind I was wondering about that awful disease that killed my Mustang, RUST. The warrantee says something about 14 years for rust through, and it can be violated if other rust programs are used. However, I read where there is some area problems such as the hinge openings for the hatch door, around the headlights, and bottom of doors. So, has anyone attempted to add a rust proofing such as Rust-Stop stray into these areas? For the most part this would be an easy job as existing spray holes are in place under doors etc. I guess I am looking for some brave soul to give me the confidence to tackle this. The car does have relatively low miles, just a hair over 60,000 km, and sits in a warm garage most of the winter. It has never had a serious problem, runs and handles better than new, and sports a CVT transmission which I dearly love. I think the interior of the 05 is nicer than the new ones especially the dash console which is wider and looks more classy. So, what say you, should I spray, and if so, how?
