Buying Tires

I am in dire need of purchasing new tires for my '04 Mini, but don't know exactly what to purchase. The tires I put on a couple of years ago are starting to show a "flat spot" on the rear tires. I don't know if the Cooper tires that I put on could handle the speed rate for a Mini. Would someone care to share the proper size and best tire to purchase that will also withstand the speed rate of a Mini?

Thanks!

Most of us have our favorites based on our preferred tire compromises. To find what would might be best for your own preferences, you can go to www.tirerack.com, enter your car data, and click on "Tires." Then choose your tire size from what comes up. Then from what comes up you can choose to see listed all the tires that size, or only the best sellers.

Are you looking for OEM spec? Our MINI's do not have spare tires so BMW picked run-flat tires for our cars. Many owners hate them for the rough ride so there's often almost new tires for sale in the classifieds.

I can't recall ever reading of a case of a tire on a non-racing Mini failing due to excessive speed. You may want to investigate whether the "flat spot" is not the result of a worn suspension component. This would be a likely scenario for a 2004.

I went to the Cooper tire website and entered a search for tires for both '04 Cooper and Cooper S. The responses were no tires to fit either MINI, so I'm wondering what Cooper tires were mounted on your '04 MINI.

General G Max Tires

There are lots of tires and sizes out there to choose from. Stay with the OEM sizing for the wheels you have first of all. Safer that way in my opinion.
Second: I got rid of those hard riding run flats and got a whole new set of General's newest tire the G Max. Z Rated, a great price point, smooth, quiet and everything you could ask of a tire. Even more than those high priced tires out there.
I love 'em so far. That's all I can say.
