finance rate question

hey everyone, my MCS is currently on the DON JUAN in Halifax scheduled to be in NY on the 24th. I ordered my car on 2/20 at the 2.9% rate and MINI is running a new promo for March until April 2 at 1.9%. Most likely i won't be able to take delivery until after April 2 so i was wondering could I have my MA change my 2.9 rate to the 1.9 rate just in case it changes for the worse when i take delivery?

Mine did so, and he brought it up. Was nice news to hear. I thought 2.9 was good already...but then I lived through the 80's [when rates were astronomical]

I don't know for sure, but I would think they would do that. Can't hurt to ask.

I was told that I could only use the incentives in place at the time of delivery.
I was pre approved by MINI/BMW finance but no mention of rates until I signed the papers at delivery. As it turned out I got better than what was in place when I ordered. (Dec '09). Things may have changed since then so you need to ask your dealer.

Amen to that! I would add, ask sooner rather than later. Federal interest rates have just started going up so this would definitely be worth checking into. You never know... this might be the lowest you'll see that rate. Also, if you have a really good FICO score, you might just even be able to negotiate a few more tenths off to boot if you can lock in your rate. However, there's typically a catch in that you have to close the loan within a set time period before it adjusts to market.

i emailed my MA and he replied with good news,
"Hey Matt,
I ordered my car on 2/20 at the 2.9% rate and I noticed that MINI is running a new promo for March at 1.9%. My car is currently in transit, so I was wondering is it possible to change my 2.9 rate to the 1.9 rate just in case it changes back to 2.9 when i take delivery?

Thanks,

Matthew

Not a problem.. your car should be landing at port by tomorrow! Should arrive at the dealership by early next week.

Matt"
