This is Goodbye
This is Goodbye
Well, after quite a few years of owning an 03 MCS, I decided it was time for a change. This was not an easy decision, but at 136,000 miles, she was really starting to show her age. I expected to do maintenance, and have no problem doing it, I just didn't expect it to feel like everything was failing all at once. And, that's exactly what it felt like. Power Steering pump, drivers door lock, and rear shocks all went within a 2 week window. Plus, she was due for tires and control arm bushings along with that. All prior to PA State Inspection next month. And only about 4-5 months ago, I replaced the supercharger, cooling fan, and AC compressor. It's just too much too fast. But, she's been reliable for the most part and has never let me sit along side the road. So, all-in-all, no complaints.
I'm really going to miss the car, and who knows, maybe I'll own another one some day. I know the cars pretty well, and am fairly certain I've touched every nut and bolt on the thing. I haven't posted much to the forums lately, but hopefully I contributed and help some folks along the way. This place has been great; one of the better sites I belong to.
So, what car did I decide on you ask? Well, seeing how I drive 80+ miles per day for work, and I'm driving more, and more like an old man... I decided to go the hybrid route. I just couldn't find any "newer", uniquely fun car like the Mini that got 30+ MPG (which is what I was averaging) under $25k. The 09 Audi A4 was about as close as I found, but with having to sacrifice mileage on the odo to get the price. I couldn't justify the cost... so... a quick trip to Honda to drive the CRZ. Absolutely loved it! Even with only 2 seats, it's not much more "impractical" as the Mini. It's got it's quirkiness like Mini, and it's just so.. different. Plus, having owned and loved the CRX, it was a little nostalgic. Obviously, it doesn't have the speed of the MCS, but it's very responsive, tight in the corners, and smooth. I find myself having just as much fun trying to earn the little "green rewards" that the car gives you for driving efficiently, as I did trying to find the perfect line through a corner with the Mini.
So, in any case, we'll see. Thanks again for this community, it's been a fun ride. Keep your eyes on the Marketplace, as I've got a BUNCH of Mini stuff that I'll come across as I begin to clean out the garage. If anybody local wants to swing by and clean me out, let me know, I'll give you a great deal. Oh, and if you see somebody in a CRZ wave to you in your Mini, that's just me... It'll take awhile to break that habit, so just wave back.

Decent choice. A co-worker/buddy of mine just got a CRZ, the only thing I don't like about it is that I don't fit. I rode to lunch one day and that was enough, it hurt so bad. I think it could be fun but my legs would not get under the dash. So as long as it's not an issue for you it still seems like a fun sporty car and economical too.
