But then there would be the cost of driving to Arkansas.

BTW - Could you repeat that in English? I had no idea what Shiner Bock is - sorry!

The amount of currency I spend on changing the synthesized chemical compounds in the crankcase of the internal combustion engine would be 35 US dollars and a six pack of Shiner Bock beer.

So I called the service dept. and they want $68.95.For the little in price,I'm going to have the dealer do it.

Exactly. The service guy said the $74 was for Minis prior to 2014.

$99 @ specialty shop [w/Motul]. Jiffy Lube won't touch a Mini for an oil change which is fine with me. Wouldn't trust them to install a burnt out bulb.

Here are the common oil kits to bank it against the DIY or service shops. Changing it yourself does help you get familiar with your MINI and then you don't have to worry about small shops or lube shops messing it up.

Also the factory MINI Oil is now the Shell Euro formula 5w-30 ( black ' green bottle ) , old stuff was Castrol Euro.

I change my own oil. I love to work on my car and I have had some really bad experiences with a few of the shops in my area. Things like stripping the drain plug, under filling, over filling, cross threaded filter housings. I do it myself and feel better knowing it was done correctly with care.

I have a ton of the ECS Tuning window stickers for oil changes and they just sent me 5 filters, o-rings and crush washers.
