Stealership Oil Change Rant
i got 50 of em, now I don't change the filter but every 2nd oil change. And being Totally ****, i still change oil at 3000 miles. Strange part is..... Mini Mania had taken all the crush washers out of the oil filters 'round christmas time, as I was looking to grab some more. They had a little note on the bottom of the orderin page stating that "Crush Washers sold seperatly". Guess they got reamed by complaints and changed their policy.
So....50 x .17 plus shipping of 8.78 = 17.58 divided by 50 is.....35 piont 2 cents each. Oh yeah, I can live with that, and NEVER worry about washers again.

The only problem with your advice is that new Minis do NOT have a dip-stick.
How stupid is that?

I assume the new Mini is like the wifey's BMW in that it has a low oil level light on the dash. By toggling the turn signal stalk you eventually get to an oil level display which will show you how much oil is in the engine. Neither my Mini or the wife's BMW burn any oil so I'd be happy with a dash light on the Mini.

My car takes 4.5 qts .
I use an aftermarket dip stick, that in itself speaks volumes. The fact I needed one that is.
And the motors PVC system breathes alot of oil vapor into system but I'm pretty sure it's down wind of air filter.
The post was written in 2012. The new MINIs began with the 2014 models.
